To all potential writers for the Fall 2010 issue:

Thank you for your interest in writing for the Fall 2010 issue of Psych News! Many of you have written to us requesting more information about how to get involved and about what writing for Psych News entails.

First of all, if you haven't already done so, pick up an issue of last semester's Psych News either in the Psychology Collective office on the 2nd floor of the Thomas Hunter building, or in the distribution cases in the lobby between the North and West buildings. This will give you a better idea of what Psych News looks like and of the variety of topics students chose to write about last semester. Everyone and anyone is welcome, there is no selection process.

Here is how the process works: We operate according to 4 strict deadlines, all of which are laid out below. Deadlines must be met in order for your article to be included in the current semester's issue. A deadline is set for: 1. TOPIC CHOICE and/or TITLE 2. ARTICLE OUTLINE 3. DRAFT 4. FINAL VERSION

There is a limit of one article per writer and an allowed maximum of 2 pages per article.

You will send everything to us, on or before the date it is due, by email in a Microsoft Word attachment (IN .DOC FORMAT ONLY!!! .DOCX WILL NOT BE OPENED). Each step of the way, your work will be reviewed and we will respond to you as soon as possible with any corrections, comments, or suggestions.

Once all the final and revised articles are submitted, we create an exciting publication and submit it for printing.

Then we can all celebrate together at a publication party where issues are given out.

Please keep in mind that we no longer pay writers for their articles, however we continue to encourage everyone to get involved, as having an article published is fulfilling in and of itself.

The actual dates of the deadlines for the Fall semester can be found here

Everything is going to happen pretty quickly, so if you want to have your article included in the Fall issue, you must try stay on top of these deadlines. For now, we are very excited about getting so many new and interested writers on board and we look forward to working with all of you! Feel free to email us anytime with any questions or comments you may have.
