Students and faculty were invited to lunch and socialize. Three prominent Hunter professors presented their work and talked to students about research opportunities at their research labs: Dr. Preuss, Dr. Rettig, and Dr. Luine. Also, the new PSI CHI members were inducted, and Psych News presented the Fall 2009 issue.
Students were invited to learn more about Graduate School. They received information on different types of programs; things to consider when applying; how to become a good candidate. Dr. Regina Miranda spoke about the importance of acquiring research experience prior to applying. Also, Kaplan representatives gave information on preparing and taking the GRE, and raffled a Kaplan package on site.
Students were invited to learn about the importance of internships, and received great tips and lots of information on how to find one. Internship Coordinator Paula Wicklow, from Career Development Services, spoke about resume writing, and encouraged students to make an appointment with her and to explore the ORION Internship database. Internship Coordinators Kevin Robin and Dasha Kousnetzsova, from the Center for HIV Educational Studies and Training, spoke about their intern program, and encouraged students to apply. Also, students received information on Summer Internship and Research programs.
